For this project proposing a remodelling and strawbale extension to the Studio 3 Arts Centre in Barking, London, we worked as external specialist consultants to the Architects, Citizens Design Bureau. Our role was to provide advice specifically for the strawbale extension which will provide an additional studio to the centre.

A feature ‘zig-zag’ straw wall, large picture window and the connection to the existing masonry building all posed interesting design challenges. We were very happy to support and find ways to enable this creative re-imagining of an existing inner-city London building to involve some very low-tech, natural buildings for a beautiful and healthy new studio space.
